Holiday Make-Up Looks

The holiday parties, family time, and magical spirit in the air, are a great excuse to put some added effort into your makeup moments. Many of us are still easing back into events, but whatever occasion is on your calendar is a great excuse to grab those makeup brushes and finally dab on that gloss you've been dying to use.

And whether you prefer a little sparkle or even a more classic makeup look, we’ve put together a list of products that will make for the perfect festive look.

Primed & Illuminated Skin

A good base creates a beautiful finished look.

After cleansing and moisturizing, begin your makeup routine with RMS Beauty’s Master Radiance Base. This lightweight highlighting cream can be used under foundation or by itself to create a healthy glow in the skin. It’s filled with moisturizing ingredients like jojoba oil, castor seed oil, and chia seed oil; these nourishing oils will hydrate and plump skin with every use.

Lifted, Glowing Cheeks

Want to add some lift to your face? Then try this blush technique. Instead of applying your blush to the apples of your cheeks, try placing it just above your cheekbones for a more lifted look. Don’t forget to apply just a smidge to your nose for a vibrant, healthy glow.

Our new favourite; the WonderBlush Le Fard Blush is perfect for this application because it’s so easy to use. It blends beautifully and boosts your complexion for a healthy glow that lasts, plus it comes in four beautiful shades for any skin tone.

Stunning Smokey Eyes

If there’s any time to try a bold smokey eye look, the holidays provide ample opportunities!

Start with a black or brown eye pencil We’ve been using Elate’s Eyeline Pencil; it’s highly pigmented and lasts all evening. Lightly define your upper lash line and then smudge your liner out. Do one eye at a time and don’t worry if it’s not perfect. It’s not supposed to be!

Then to get the full look, use an eye shadow brush to apply your base shade all over the eyelid and up to the brow bone if using a light / nude shade. Then using the another clean shadow brush apply a darker shade to the crease of your eyelid and blend in to create depth. Ideally, this brush is a smaller and more dense, then the brush you use to swipe shadow all over the lid. Now use a blending brush to soften lines between shades and blend to create a seamless finish. Having multiple shades is key to achieve this look, that's why we love Lily Lolo Eye Palettes. So many options, allows you to customize the perfect look - just for you.

Lastly, you may want to go over your smudgy eye line with one of the darkest palette shades. This ties the look together and reinforces the impact of your eyeline.

Classic & Glamorous Red Lips

When we think glamour, we think red lips.

It’s a great idea to prep your lips beforehand to ensure that they feel smooth and moisturized. Try Epic Blend’s Lip Scrub before applying your lip colour. It will remove any dry skin and leave your lips ready for lipstick.

For a rich, smooth colour and hydrated finish, try Clover's Comfy Matte Lipstick. They have three red/berry shades for a variety of skin tones: Retro (a true blue red), Rider (a deep berry), and Petal (a mid-tone rosey nude). These intense shades offer full-coverage colour and a long-lasting finish that won’t come off on your champagne glass, while being hydrating and light as air.
