The end of 2021 upon us! Although we love the warm, soft hues of holiday makeup, New Year’s Eve beauty looks are on another level. It’s an evening to let yourself feel glamorous and try something out of your comfort zone. Even if you're staying in, just the process of putting on some music, pouring yourself a drink, and going full glam does wonders.
Whether you prefer a little sparkle or even a more classic makeup look, we’ve put together a list of New Year’s Eve beauty trends to try while you ring in 2022.
Primed & Illuminated Skin
A good base creates a beautiful finished look.
After cleansing and moisturizing, begin your makeup routine with RMS Beauty’s Master Radiance Base. This lightweight highlighting cream can be used under foundation or by itself to create a healthy glow in the skin. It’s filled with moisturizing ingredients like jojoba oil, castor seed oil, and chia seed oil; these nourishing oils will hydrate and plump skin with every use.
Lifted, Glowing Cheeks
This New Year’s Eve is the perfect time to try a new blush technique. Instead of applying your blush to the apples of your cheeks, try placing it just above your cheekbones for a more lifted look. Don’t forget to apply just a smidge to your nose for a vibrant, healthy glow.
We have been loving the Kosas Powder Blush & Highlighter Duo for this trend because it’s so easy to use. The duo comes in three beautiful shades for any skin tone, and the highlighter gives a soft focus effect to the skin.
Stunning Smokey Eyes
If there’s any time to try a bold smokey eye look, this is the night!
Start with a black or brown eye pencil. We’ve been using Elate’s Eyeline Pencil; it’s highly pigmented and lasts all evening. Lightly define your upper lash line and then smudge your liner out. Do one eye at a time and don’t worry if it’s not perfect. It’s not supposed to be!
After you’ve applied and smudged your liner, use the ATHR Beauty Amethyst Crystal Gemstone Palette to elevate your look. With 12 buttery shades in matte, glitter, and metallic finishes, this is your opportunity to get creative. Try blending Meditation (a matte taupe) into the crease for some depth, then pat Protection (a metallic pewter) onto the lid to bring some smoked out shimmer to your eyes.
For another option to keep the focus on the liner, deepen up the base you’ve already laid down with Pisces (a purple-black shimmer) and flick it out as a wing to extend your eye shape, making sure to keep the lines soft and hazy. Pop a bit of Mystic (a moonlight shimmer) on the inner corner to bring some light in and you’ve got a look. With any smoky eye look, be sure to blend your shadows to make your eye look seamless.
Classic & Glamorous Red Lips
When we think glamour, we think red lips.
It’s a great idea to prep your lips beforehand to ensure that they feel smooth and moisturized. Try Epic Blend’s Lip Scrub before applying your lip colour. It will remove any dry skin and leave your lips ready for lipstick.
For a rich, smooth colour and hydrated finish, try Vapour Beauty’s High Voltage Lipstick. They have three red shades for a variety of skin tones: Blaze (poppy red), Legend (tomato red), and Primal (deeper purple-red). These intense shades offer full-coverage colour and a long-lasting finish that won’t come off on your champagne glass.
Happy New Year from us at The Truth Beauty Company. Best wishes for a healthy, vibrant, and happy 2022!
