Hydrate. Brighten. Firm. Is there a natural skincare ingredient that can do it all? Enter: Rosehip Oil. This multi-use oil has taken our skincare shelves by storm in recent months and we’re excited to dig a little bit deeper and learn more.
How can Rosehip Oil change your skincare routine? Read on to find out.
What is Rosehip Oil?
Rosehip Oil is a pressed seed oil derived from rose bushes. The seeds are found within the fruit of the rose plant, just below the flower. When these seeds are pressed, they produce a vibrant, bright orange oil.
Used for centuries for its healing and moisturizing properties, Rosehip Oil is filled with a plethora of vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids to moisturize and support skin.
What Makes Rosehip Oil Great For The Skin?
- It’s deeply nourishing, yet lightweight
Although Rosehip Oil is easily absorbed into the skin, it contains fatty acids that strengthen the skin and allow it to retain moisture. This results in a dewy, glowy complexion after application and helps the skin to feel comfortable and fresh.
- It has brightening and anti-aging properties
Rosehip Oil is packed with Vitamin A, the same vitamin that retinol is derived from. In this oil, it comes in the form of beta-carotene. This compound assists the skin to boost collagen production and improve skin elasticity.
Vitamin A also increases cell turnover which can result in brightened skin, faded hyperpigmentation and scarring, and even tone and texture.
- It boosts skin health with antioxidants
In addition to Vitamin A, Rosehip Oil is bursting with glow-boosting Vitamin C and healing Vitamin E. These essential vitamins help to strengthen the skin barrier and improve the health and vitality of the skin structure.
Antioxidants combat free radicals, particles that attach to the skin and cause oxidative stress and damage. Over time, antioxidants help to prevent signs of skin aging.
How To Use Rosehip Oil In Your Routine

Double cleansing is the perfect way to clean all of the dirt, makeup, and impurities from your face after a long day. Begin with a few drops of Matter Company’s 100% Organic Rosehip Seed Oil and work the oil into your skin. Rinse and follow with a cleansing gel or milk to ensure that you’re left with a clean slate.
MOISTURIZER
Due to its skin-nourishing and absorbent properties, Rosehip Oil makes an ideal skin moisturizer for all skin types including sensitive skin. FACIAL OIL
If your skin is feeling particularly dry, adding facial oil as the last step of your routine is a great option. We love to use Apoterra Skincare’s Rose Nourishing Facial Oil in the evening since it contains calming Calendula, Chamomile, and Evening Primrose Oil. For an extra soothing step, grab your favourite facial tool and spend 5-10 minutes giving yourself a mini facial massage with this oil before bed.
