Fresh "No-Makeup" Makeup For Spring

beautiful skin makeup

Think the ‘no-makeup look’ means doing away with your cosmetic bag? Not quite. This effortless glow takes some skill to truly master what highlights your features for a fresh faced result. The "no-makeup look" achieves the perfect balance between au naturel and put together—like you just so happened to wake up looking bright and refreshed (along with a strong brow game).

Need some tips?  We have rounded up some of our favourite products and techniques to help you master this everyday look.

  1. Skincare

The easiest way to achieve a radiant, barely there, makeup look is to start with healthy skin. A smooth, hydrated base allows for makeup to melt into the skin. Prep your skin with a Roller or a Gua Sha  to de-puff and increase your circulation.

  1. Base

To keep your makeup looking freshly applied all day, reach for a primer that suits your skin type. For extra glow, try Ember's Sculpt & Glow Bars. For long lasting hydration look to RMS Beauty's "Re" Evolve Radiance Locking Primer. For oiler skin types try Grown Alchemist's Anti-Pollution Primer for all day staying power

To even out your skin tone just enough without it looking or feeling like makeup, opt for a sheer coverage skin tint like Graydon's Face Glow, Sappho's CC Cream. For a little more coverage, look to Elate's Refresh Foundation or Kosas' Revealer Skin-Improving Foundation. If you didn't already apply SPF, another great option is this tinted sunscreen from La Spa. These options will give you a natural complexion and add some dewiness. The ‘no-makeup look’ is all about embracing your skin and enhancing what makes you feel beautiful. Feel free to allow your freckles, redness, texture, hyper pigmentation, and other blemishes shine through.

Have some areas you want more coverage? Now is the time to apply. Using a tiny amount of concealer, pat it into your skin in the areas you want to cover. Concealer can be used to brighten your complexion, but you don’t want a concealer that is too light for your skin as the more contrast you have in tone, the less natural your makeup will appear.

  1. Brows

Remember the brows you have, are the most natural looking. But if you want to enhance your brows, simply brush through your brows with a gel like Kosas Clear Air Brow. You can choose to use a pencil to add some depth, such as the Plume’s Nourish and Define Brow Pencil. And a quick swipe of a spoolie is not only a great way to shape and smooth your brows, but will also help them stay in place all day.

  1. Eyes

While a little bit of shimmer is always fun, if you want to stay completely natural, avoid sparkly pigments. To open your eyes and seem more awake, try patting an eye-opening shade, like a dune-hue, into the inner corners of your eyes. Like Sappho's Turtle or Elate's Union. But for your eyes, the most important step is to curl your lashes. This opens and brightens your face instantly. Try out TOK Beauty's Lash Curler. You can opt to skip mascara entirely, or you can choose to swipe a light layer on just your top lashes.

  1. Cheeks

Using cream and liquid products produce a more natural look than powders, and blend with each other beautifully, diffusing into the skin. As always, for a ‘no-makeup look’ less is more. Adding a little bit of colour to your face can make all the difference, adding a lively, youthful glow.

Blush is a great way to add warmth to your complexion. For a cute sunkissed look, a bit of blush on the apples of your cheeks, blended up towards your temples, and brushed across the bridge of your nose will provide a beautiful natural flush. Using the same pigment will add to the gorgeous natural look. One of our favourites of the ‘one and done’ products is Harlow Skin Co's Skin Gloss. Finish with a dab of highlighter on the top of your cheekbones to reflect where light naturally would hit; we adore the cult classic RMS Beauty's Luminizer

  1. Lips

A tinted lip balm like Kosas Lipfuel or RMS Beauty
Daily Tinted Lip Balm
is the perfect sheer coverage to enhance your lip colour without sacrificing the goal of the ‘no makeup look’.

And done! Simple, fresh, quick, and easy.
